Cygnus is a decan constellation of Aquarius, the water bearer.  A picture of the Messiah, the King who goes from (ascends) and returns (descends) to earth.
The brightest star in the constellation is between the body and the tail and is called ‘Deneb’ which means ‘the judge.’  It is also called ‘Adige’ which means flying swiftly.

Mal 3:2  But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fuller’s soap.

“This constellation has a number of distinct systems in itself, and shows planetary nebulae which have led astronomers to regard it as the intermediate link between the planetary worlds and the nebulous stars.” {The Gospel in the Stars – Joseph Seiss}

Nebulae comes from the Latin word ‘nebula’ which means a mist or cloud.
Rev 1:7  “Behold, He comes with the clouds,” and “every eye will see Him, and the ones who pierced” Him, and all the tribes of the earth “will wail on account of Him.” Yes, Amen. Dan. 7:13; Zech. 12:10

“But this swan is on the wing, in the act of rapid flight, ” circling and returning,” as its name in Greek and Latin signifies. It seems to be flying down the Milky Way, in the same general direction with the river which pours from the heavenly urn. The principal stars which mark its wings and length of body form a large and beautiful cross, the
most regular of all the crosses formed by the constellations. It is thus the bird of matchless beauty, purity, dignity, and grace, bearing aloft the cross, and circling with it over the blessed waters of life; whilst in the naming of its stars, the brightest is Deneb, the Lord or judge to come; Azel, who goes and returns ; Fayage, glorious, shining forth;
Sadr, who returns as in a circle; Adige, flying swiftly; Arided, He shall come down; and other words of like import, we find strong identifications of this lordly bird-king of the waters with Him who, through the preaching of His cross hither and thither over all this nether world, cries and says, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and

“Thus, then, in the Zodiacal Aquarius we have the picture in the stars of the heavenly waters of life and salvation; of their source in the beautiful Seed of the woman, slain indeed, but risen again and lifted up in ever lasting glory; of the voluminous plenteous ness in which they flow down into all out dry and thirsty world; of the new creation and
joyous life they bring to those who drink them; of the swift heralding and bearing of the glad provision to all people; and of the graceful holding forth of the cross to the nations over which, on outspread wings, the Lord of these waters circles, in His meek loveliness ever calling, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.”  {The Gospel in the Stars – Joseph Seiss}

Joh 7:37  And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
Joh 7:38  The one believing into Me, as the Scripture said, Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.
Joh 7:39  But He said this concerning the Spirit, whom the ones believing into Him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Joh 7:40  Then hearing the Word, many of the crowd said, This is truly the Prophet.

As seen in the tidbit on the duckclick here, the Holy Spirit is associated with the dove/duck/swan.

Cygnus is Latin which also comes from חוג ‘chug’ and speaks of the One who comes and goes, circling.
Isa 40:22  He who sits on the circle {חוג } of the earth, even those living in it are like grasshoppers; He who stretches the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to live in;
Act 1:11  who also said, Men, Galileans, why do you stand looking up to the heaven? This Jesus, the One being taken from you into the heaven, will come in the way you saw Him going into the heaven.

The word cygnus is related to the English word ‘cygnet’ which also means a ‘signet.’  Etymologists consider this a ‘disambiguation’ which is just a fancy way of saying that words are related but the etymologist doesn’t know why.  The answer is in the Hebrew language.  The word for swan in Latin is ‘cygnus’ which comes from the Greek word κυκνος ‘kuknos’ which is speaking of the diving or circling of a swan.  The English word ‘dive’ traces back to the Hebrew word טבע ‘teva’ which means to sink down or to drown.  Here the picture of the diving neck of the swan in search of food is seen.  The word for a signet ring in Hebrew is טבעת ‘tabat’ which comes from the same root as a signet ring is dipped or plunged into clay or wax to make one’s mark.

The star Azel comes from the Hebrew word אזל which means to go and return.  It is also speaking of a shaking motion, the shaking of the mountains when Messiah comes back to earth.
Isa 64:1  Oh that You would tear the heavens and come down, that mountains would quake {זלל} before You.

The star Fafage means a bright shining from the Hebrew word יפע ‘yafah’ which means bright, as in light or sound.
Deu 33:2  And he said: YHWH came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir for them; He shone forth {יפה} from Mount Paran, and He came from the myriads of holy ones. At his right hand a law of fire went forth to them.

The star Sadr means the One who returns, as in a circle.  From the Hebrew word דר which means a circle or repetition.
Isa 29:3  And I will camp as a circle on you, and will lay siege work on you; and I will raise up ramparts on you.

Joh 14:3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will receive you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.

The star Adige means flying swiftly from the Hebrew word דאה which is speaking of the swift flight of a bird of prey.
Deu 28:49  YHWH shall raise a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies {דאה }; a nation whose tongue you will not understand,
Mat 24:30  And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the heavens. And then all the tribes of the land will wail. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and much glory. Dan. 7:13

The star Arided means He shall come down from the Hebrew word ירד ‘yarad’ which means to descend.
Psa 72:6  He shall descend {ירד } like rain on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.

The star Al Bireo means flying quickly from the Hebrew word ברח ‘barach’ which is speaking of swift flight.

The star Cycnos means the swan, circling and returning.  Cycnos is a Greek word which comes from חוג ‘chug’ which means a circle.

Job 22:14  Clouds are a covering for Him, and He does not see; and He walks the circuit {חוג }of the heavens.

61 Cygni consists of two stars which revolve about each other in a progressive motion to each other.  A figure eight.

The path of the sun throught sky each year, known as the analemma, makes this same figure eight image.

The word for 8 in Hebrew is:

This comes from the root:

שמן ‘shemen’ traces back even further to the parent root שם ‘shem’ which means breath or character.  The root of 8 comes from שם ‘shem’ (name/character) which is the same root as sun שמש ‘shemesh’and תנשמת ‘tinshemet’ which is one of the Hebrew words for a swan.
