2Th 2:1 And, brothers, we entreat you, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together to Him,
2Th 2:2 for you not to be quickly shaken in the mind, nor to be disturbed, neither through a spirit, nor through speech, nor through letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ has come.
2Th 2:3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because that Day will not come unless first comes the falling away, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
2Th 2:4 the one opposing and exalting himself over everything being called God, or object of worship, so as for him “to sit in the temple of God” as God, setting forth himself, that he is God. Dan. 11:36; Eze. 28:2
2Th 2:5 Do you not remember that I told you these things, I yet being with you?
2Th 2:6 And now you know the thing holding back, for him to be revealed in his time.
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness already is working, only he is holding back now, until it comes out of the midst.
2Th 2:8 And then “the Lawless One” will be revealed, “whom” “the Lord” “will consume” “by the spirit of His mouth,” and will bring to nought by the brightness of His presence. Isa. 11:4
2Th 2:9 His coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and miraculous signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 and in all deceit of unrighteousness in those being lost, because they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved.
2Th 2:11 And because of this, God will send to them a working of error(KJV strong delusion), for them to believe the lie,
2Th 2:12 that all may be judged, those not believing the truth, but who have delighted in unrighteousness.
When speaking of the end of days, the Messiah warned His followers of great deception. He said that the deception would be so strong that if possible it could even deceive the elect. The Scriptures were written for believers, if believers have no worries about being deceived then there is no reason for the Lord Jesus to warn His people of deception. If it is only those who don’t study the Scriptures that will be deceived then why would the Holy Spirit find it necessary to give so many warnings about deception in the end?
Mar 13:21 And then if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ! Or, Behold, there! You shall not believe.
Mar 13:22 For false christs and false prophets will be raised, and they will give miraculous signs and wonders in order to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
Mat 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will rise up. And they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
The phrase ‘if possible’ in Greek means ‘if powerful enough’. It does not indicate that it is impossible for the elect to be deceived.
With that being said, there are some things that most believers are not prepared for and could be deceived due to popular teaching on end times and prophecy.
Making allegories literal, and Spiritualizing literal Scriptures.
Numerous end time prophecies are overlooked because they don’t fit into the template of the end time scenarios that are common among believers. The earth tottering like a drunkard, the mountains falling into the midst of the sea etc, are spiritualized to look like they are in the process of being fulfilled today or could be fulfilled by some spiritual means in the future without literally happening. I have noticed that when end time prophecies don’t fit into people’s charts and graphs and scenarios those believers will spiritualize that prophecy away as to not deal with it, especially if a literal fulfillment will topple their house of cards. If our theory does not line up with the Word, then perhaps we should consider tossing out our theory, not ignoring Scriptures that have no indication of being allegorical.
Applying Prophecies to Current Events
Another problem I see among believers today is an age old problem of portraying current events as fulfillment of the prophecies spoken of in the Scriptures about the end of days and the tribulation. It only takes a small amount of connections for a person to become dogmatic about a current event being a sure sign of the end. Before believing a prophecy is being fulfilled in our day, one needs to examine that prophecy before quoting portions of a verse of Scripture and applying it to a situation that may not truly fulfill what the prophet was speaking of.
Counterfeit Fulfillment of Prophecy

I believe that the adversary, satan, the devil, lucifer etc. knows the Scriptures and knows that mixing truth with a little bit of error is the best way to deceive mankind. What better way to deceive, if possible the elect, than to counterfeit end time prophecies of the tribulation and the antichrist then to come in like a knight on the white horse posing as the Messiah. When looking at the prophecies of the Messiah’s second coming, each prophecy has a counterfeit that the adversary will fulfill. In order for the adversary to counterfeit the prophecies pertaining to the Messiah, he has to first counterfeit the prophecies that pertain to himself.
For instance, the Scriptures speak of Lucifer desiring to sit on the sides of the north as “god.” The sides of the north is the holy mountain of Jerusalem according to Psalm 48. The best way for the adversary to fulfill this desire to to bring about a counterfeit beast kingdom which most people know is called the “new world order.” Everyone is looking for a world dictator, a Mahdi, an Avatar or some UN leader to be the antichrist. I believe that this will probably come to pass some day, but this will not be the fulfillment of Revelation 13. This is a counterfeit so that the adversary can come to earth posing as the Messiah and “save” mankind from this wicked tyrant.
As I’ve studied end time scenarios and Scriptures pertaining to the subject, the following questions have been raised in my mind…What if the state of Israel today is a counterfeit? What if the Jews who don’t accept Jesus as their Lord are not the chosen people? What if the regathering of Israel and the exile has not happened? What if the dividing of the land of Israel has nothing to do with a PLO state? What if Gog and Magog doesn’t happen until after the 1,000 year millennium? What if Armageddon and WWIII are not synonymous? What if the tribulation isn’t 7 years? What if there is no pre-trib rapture? What if the days of Noah are more than just abject wickedness amongst mankind? What if the earth tottering like a drunkard is literal? What if the adversary comes from heaven posing as the Lord Jesus? What if the mark of the beast isn’t a microchip or a 666 tattoo?
In future studies the above topics will be discussed and I will attempt to share what the Most High has shown me. I have come to the conclusion that much of what is being taught to believers in regards to the end times is in error. Much of what is being taught lines up with what the adversary wants mankind to believe in order to deceive them at the set time that our Father sends the strong delusion to those who do not have a love for the Truth.
